Helzberg Diamonds Thanks Good Samaritan For Returning Lost Jewelry
Company to Present Robert Lewis with $10,000 Award; Donate $5,000 to Jackson County CASA
NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 13, 2007 --- Helzberg Diamonds expressed its
gratitude to fellow Kansas Citian Robert Lewis for returning a package of
jewelry valued at more than $260,000. Helzberg Diamonds will present Lewis with
a $10,000 award and make a $5,000 donation to Jackson County Court Appointed
Special Advocates (CASA) in his honor at an event to be scheduled in the coming
weeks.
Mr. Lewis discovered the box of jewelry while on his way home from his job at
the Kansas City International Airport Monday night. The jewelry had been picked
up from Helzberg Diamonds earlier in the day by a Brinks Company armored
vehicle, for overnight shipment to the New York area.
"We're still not clear on how Brinks' package ended up on the road Monday
night," said Helzberg Diamonds' CEO Marvin Beasley, "but what is clear is that
Mr. Lewis' good deed saved Brinks a great deal of money because they were
ultimately responsible for this package. Helzberg Diamonds is recognizing Mr.
Lewis for his shining example of what makes Kansas City a great place to live
and work. He went out of his way to do the right thing and this award is a token
of our appreciation."
