Don't store diamonds with your other fine jewelry; they could scratch softer gems. Diamonds are best kept in soft pouches inside your regular jewelry box.   Don't wear your diamond ring to do any activity (woodworking, heavy gardening, etc) that could damage the setting, and put you at risk for losing your diamond.   Don't remove your ring and put it just anywhere. Nestle it in the same place — a box, a pretty dish — so you know where it is and don't accidentally wipe it off the counter with the bread crumbs, or put something heavy on top of it.   Don't forget to clean it! Once a week, mix one part ammonia to six parts water, and gently scrub your diamond with a soft brush, taking care not to scratch the metal.
