The Four Cs

Diamond Rarity

Diamond

At Helzberg Diamonds, we pride ourselves on having extremely strict standards for diamond quality - especially when it comes to the cut of our diamonds. We stand behind every diamond that goes into every piece of our jewelry, ensuring that it lives up to the standards we have upheld since 1915.

The basics of diamonds has always come down to the 4Cs - cut, color, clarity and carat weight.

  • Cut: The cut of a diamond affects how well a diamond returns light back to the viewer's eye. A well cut diamond will appear brilliant and fiery.
  • Color: A diamond's color is a measure of the stone's whiteness, meaning it is actually measuring the lack of color a diamond has.
  • Clarity: The clarity of a diamond refers to the presence (or lack) of imperfections. Generally, the more imperfections (or inclusions) a diamond has, the lower the clarity.
  • Carat Weight: A carat specifically measures a diamond's weight. Because of its rarity, one larger diamond is more valuable than a combination of smaller diamonds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by perfect ring for the practical girl What I love about this ring is that its simplicity. I'm not a "bling bling" type of girl and I work my rings hard so a high setting on a tiny dinky band is more likely to get busted. I love the thicker band and the secure catherdal style. It needs no additional showy-ness with such a modern setting. Its not a LOUD "look at me" "look at me" ring. Some people need fussing over and attention constantly, thus desire a gaudy flashy thing to show off. This ring just calmly says "She's taken." and to me, that's all it needs to say. This ring also looks very classy paired with a simple white gold band (what we will be getting later). The picture just doesn't do this ring any justice! I'm over the moon with it! February 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Bittersweet! It breaks my heart to read these wonderful reviews. Not because they are not true, because indeed they are. This is simply a beautiful ring. But because I lost my ring 4 months ago and we have not been able to replace it yet. Our 2 year anniversary is coming up May 1 and I have been left ring-less. I browse the site to remember what it looks like! Literally, fighting my tears back right now. This ring is all of what is said above. It's simple and elegant. I received lots of compliments, the cathedral setting adds to its elegance. Less is more is a great way to describe it. I just wish I could have mine back. Enjoy your rings everyone. March 19, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Simple but Beautiful! My boyfriend of 4 years proposed with this ring in February 2010 and it is still as beautiful as the day he put it on my finger. The diamond quality is amazing and the setting really compliments the diamond. We are getting married May 25, 2011 and I can't wait to see what my wedding band looks like! I highly recommend this ring to anyone on a budget like we were. You will not be disappointed because I sure wasn't :) November 13, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful in its simplicity My now-fiance proposed with this ring about six months ago and i still love it! It is a simple ring, but beautifully crafted. The mounting is unique and eye-catching. This is perfect for women like me who like understated elegance. May 20, 2009
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it! I have this ring, and absolutely LOVE it. It's different that your orginal solitare. I think it stands our more. Everyone loves it as well when they see it. The side veiw is just stunning. Couldn't be happier with any other ring! May 20, 2009
Rated 5 out of 5 by Simply Breathtaking All I can say is that she still looks at it every day and can't believe it's there. This ring has been a huge hit with everyone we have shown it to. The extension of the band upwards toward the stone make it look different from "ordinary" engagement rings and helps to increase the feeling of security when wearing it. It's a solid item that won't let you down. December 21, 2007
Rated 5 out of 5 by Everyone should have at least one diamond! My husband and I got to pick out new rings a couple of years ago. This is the ring I chose and I love it! I am always getting compliments because of its beauty. I never was the kind of girl who thought I would want to have diamonds; now I think I need a few more! August 15, 2007
Rated 5 out of 5 by Deal Sealer I was so excited about this ring that I nearly spilled the beans to my then fiance. I had taken it to my grandmother to see and shown it to my now mother and father-in-law when I asked for my wife's hand in marriage. They all crooned over the ring. My grandmother said it was absolutely perfect; my father-in-law said it was very classy and he knew she'd love it; my mother-in-law spoke only with tears and a hug. I set the scene, simple yet romatic. I put on her favorite movie and cooked a fancy dinner. When she excused herself I dimmed the lights and lighted candles. Finally it came time to pop the question; I could barely speak. Trembling, I pulled the ring box from my pocket and cracked it open inbetween us. The way the lights played off of the diamond and the white gold band were astounding. While she stared, mesmerized, I conjured my words, and well, the rest is history August 14, 2007
