If you ordered the wrong ring size, you may be able to exchange it for the right size. If there is not a similar option available in the size you need — or if you ordered a custom ring — Helzberg can resize the ring according to your specifications.
Ring size chart and guide
Get a professional ring sizing
The best way to correctly measure a finger size is to visit your local Helzberg store. Our jewelry experts can help you determine the right size for diamond engagement rings, wedding rings, bands or everyday rings. (They’ll answer questions about wiggle room and resizing, too.)
Use our printable ring size chart
Follow the instructions to download and print our PDF for three easy ways to get an idea of the ring size you want.
Use the paper sizer on our guide to measure your finger, or compare a ring that fits the right finger to our diameter chart. You can also cut a strip of paper, ribbon or string, wrap it around your finger, mark the overlap and compare that measurement to the paper sizer.

Ring sizes are usually based on the inner diameter in millimeters. In the U.S., ring sizes are obtained using a numeric scale based on quarters and half units.
Yes — jewelers use the same size chart for men and women. That said, women generally prefer narrower bands because they tend to have smaller fingers. The average ring size for women is 7 while the average ring size for men is an 10.
The cost of resizing a ring depends on whether you are increasing or decreasing the size. To size down a too-large ring, jewelers can remove a small portion of the shank. To up-size when a ring is too small, they have to cut the shank and add a small amount of metal. The complexity of the ring design, metal, gemstone placement and band shape can also affect the cost. A simple resizing might cost $46 – $180.
With a Helzberg’s Lifetime Care Plan, resizing your ring is free. Sign up when you purchase your next piece of fine jewelry.
You might be able to get someone’s ring size by borrowing a ring you know fits the right finger and tracing the inside of the shank or taking it to your local Helzberg store. You can try asking a close friend or family member. If you’re extra daring, you might try measuring their finger while they take a nap. Find more ideas for getting someone’s ring size here.
