Shop March Birthstone Jewelry at Helzberg Diamonds

The March birthstone is aquamarine. This stone is said to promote safety and security, especially for journeys at sea - inspired, most likely, by the calm cool blue color. During medieval times, aquamarine was also thought to work as an antidote to poisons and was even used for fortune telling. This beautiful birthstone is the perfect gift for loved ones born in March.

March also has a second birthstone - bloodstone - but aquamarine is much more of a gem and is the stone most commonly made into jewelry.

Biblical times, and through history it was customary to wear the stone associated with the current month during that time, then switch to the next birthstone during the next month. In addition, this was before stones could be identified as precisely as they can be today, so the identities of some of the original stones are unknown. It's only in the last century that the current list has been standard, and since then, it has been more appropriate to wear your birthstone all year 'round.
