Our Gurnee jewelry store is at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Hunt Club Road, and we’re just across the parking lot from Target. Samantha and Brenda did what they could to make me happy I guess, but I will not come back unless I have to. They are obviously tired of me coming in with issues and asking questions, but thats their problem. My first issue stemmed from my fiance not doing enough research on his own before purchasing the first ring. He bought what he thought was a diamond ring online. We were within the 30 day window so I swapped it for something else but we should have just got our money back at that point. The second ring was returned to me damaged after resizing and come to find out, they sized me wrong in the first place and should have never sent me home with that ring. Not only was it damaged, it needed to go a half size smaller and wasn't meant to go as small as I needed it. I ended up spending double the cost of ring #2 to buy the ring I'm wearing today. My ring is nice and it fits, but its over priced and obviously mass produced like all the rings there. The loud non-manager of the two said the rings there are made like fast fashion where they use molds and patterns to explain why the ring I got special ordered should be identical to the one I tried on in the store (but it isnt identical, which was the problem). She validated herself by explaining that she was a fashion design major however many decades ago. Every time I came in with an issue, the loud talking fashion design major would gaslight me and say there was nothing wrong (its just a reflection, its just the lighting, its how its supposed to be). It really made me mad every damn time I had to deal with her and I wouldn't trust a thing she says. Although she wasnt particularly pleasant or personable, the manager is the one who salvaged my experience and took the time to actually think and look instead of talk incessantly. She took measurements, looked under a microscope, acknowledged the gouges and uneven shank in ring #2 after resizing, and took measurements of ring #3 compared to the one I tried on etc. If it wasn't for the manager, I would have lost my temper at some point dealing with the other lady. If we were to do it all over again, we'd have spent the extra money to design our own ring with the family jeweler who created my mom's rings. I always felt rushed in there and the gaslighting lady loudly called me 'picky' because I noticed and cared about details that she couldnt see for some bizarre reason. I do ask lot of questions and I notice details. Details matter to me. And they should matter to her and anyone spending any kind of money on a product. If you already know what you want, dont care much about small details and dont mind spending a lot of money on mass produced jewelry, this is a good place to go. But don't go here if you are just getting started and need patient, detail oriented, personalized experience with consistently capable staff. Shop around and do your research. We regret not doing that.
